Important: California Law Requires Physical Signatures

Electronic signatures are not permitted for California ballot initiatives. All signatures must be collected on paper and submitted to county election officials. Each signer must be a registered California voter and must provide their residential address (not P.O. Box).

How to Collect Signatures

Each signer must be a registered California voter. They must sign their name, print their name, and provide their residential address.

Step 3

Mail Completed Petitions

Mail completed petition sheets to your county elections office or to our central processing center.

Signature Requirements

Valid Signatures

  • Signer is a registered California voter
  • Signature matches voter registration
  • Residential address provided (street address)
  • Printed name is legible
  • Date signed is included

Invalid Signatures

  • Signer is not registered to vote in California
  • P.O. Box used instead of residential address
  • Signature doesn't match voter registration
  • Same person signed multiple times
  • Information is illegible or incomplete

Where to Submit Petitions
